Pre-Treatment Care
To ensure the best results and reduce the risk of side effects, please follow these guidelines:
Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including solariums) for 3–4 weeks before treatment. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily.
Skin Products: Discontinue use of retinoids, hydroquinone, glycolic/salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and chemical peels for 2 weeks before treatment.
Injectables & Treatments: Avoid dermal fillers, wrinkle relaxers, or other energy-based treatments in the same area for at least 2 weeks.
Health & Medications: Advise your provider of all medications and supplements. Avoid photosensitising medications if possible.
Cold Sores: If you have a history of herpes simplex, discuss antiviral prophylaxis with your provider.
Lifestyle: Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and smoking for 24 hours prior.
What to Expect Post-Treatment
You may notice some temporary redness, swelling, or warmth in the treated area. These are normal signs that the treatment is working and typically settle within 24–48 hours.
Expected Skin Changes:
Day 1–2: Mild redness, warmth, and slight swelling may occur.
Day 2–5: Any subtle darkening or dryness will naturally shed as the skin renews.
Day 5+: Skin will begin to feel smoother, with results continuing to improve over the next few weeks.
Post-Treatment Care
To optimise healing and results, follow these recommendations:
Sun Protection: Continue avoiding sun exposure for at least 3–4 weeks post-treatment. Apply SPF 50 daily and reapply every 2 hours when outdoors.
Skin Care:
Use gentle cleansers and hydrating moisturisers.
Apply soothing products such as aloe vera gel, B5 serum, or hyaluronic acid.
Avoid active products (retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, peels) for 1–2 weeks.
Lifestyle & Activities:
Avoid hot showers, saunas, Jacuzzis, and vigorous exercise for 48–72 hours.
Do not rub, scratch, or pick at treated skin.
Pain & Swelling:
Use a cold compress or refrigerated soothing gel for comfort.
If needed, over-the-counter pain relief or a mild hydrocortisone cream may be used (as advised by your provider).
Follow-Up:
A course of 3–6 treatments, spaced 2–4 weeks apart, is recommended for best results.
Maintenance every 3–6 months helps prolong outcomes.
Signs to Monitor
Contact your clinic if you experience:
Severe or prolonged redness/swelling lasting more than 48 hours
