Ultherapy and HIFU are similar but not the same. Both use ultrasound energy to tighten the skin by stimulating collagen, but Ultherapy is a premium, branded treatment that uses advanced micro-focused ultrasound with real-time imaging for greater precision. HIFU, on the other hand, is a broader category of devices—such as Althera or Ultraformer—often more affordable and quicker but without Ultherapy’s direct visualization technology for accurately targeting deeper layers like the SMAS.

There may be slight redness that typically resolves within a few hours following the treatment. Some patients may have slight swelling, tingling, or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

You may experience mild discomfort during the treatment, especially around bony areas, but Ultherapy Prime has significantly reduced the sensation—up to 50% less discomfort. For clients who are more sensitive to pain, we recommend taking a pain reliever about 40 minutes before the session for added comfort.
